Bitmain’s Z9/V9/Z9 Mini miners are highly favored for mining operations. However, there may be situations when the control board program requires recovery. At D-Central Technologies, we’re ready to help you navigate this process successfully.

Identifying Need for Control Board Recovery

This guide applies under the following scenarios:

  1. The miner powers off during the upgrade process.
  2. The miner cannot start (unable to locate IP).
  3. The miner can only utilize the default factory workers.

Prerequisites for Control Board Recovery

Before starting, ensure you have:

  1. A computer running Windows 7 or a newer version.
  2. An SD card reader.
  3. An SD card, under 32GB storage capacity, formatted to FAT32.
  4. A V9/Z9 Miner machine.

Control Board Recovery Procedure

Step 1: Download the necessary files

Navigate to https://service.bitmain.com/support/download and download the ‘v9-SD Tools.zip’. Click “Flashing SD card with image” >> “Tools and Instructions to Image SD card” -> “v9-SD Tools.zip”. Note that the Z9 mini also uses the V9 recovery file.

Step 2: Prepare the SD Card

Extract the ‘v9-SD Tools.zip’ files and copy them to your FAT32-formatted SD Card. Then, remove the SD card from the computer.

Step 3: Insert SD Card and Power On

Turn off the miner (disconnect the power cord) and correctly insert the SD card into the miner. Then, power on the miner. The signal light next to the internet port will stop blinking when the program has been copied successfully to the control board. Wait for 1 minute after the light stops blinking before powering off the miner.

Step 4: Remove SD Card and Restart Miner

Power off the miner (unplug the power cord), remove the SD card, and then power on the miner again. At this point, the miner should be restored to factory settings.

Updating Firmware

Following a successful control board recovery, you should update your firmware to the latest version. Visit https://service.bitmain.com/support/download for the latest firmware version. Make sure to uncheck “keep setting” and reload the firmware. Load either the V9 or the Z9 mini firmware, depending on your miner type.

Follow these steps to ensure a successful control board program recovery for your Z9/V9/Z9 Mini miner. If you encounter any issues or have queries, feel free to reach out to D-Central Technologies.
