Antminer S19 – Temperature Too High (Temp1/Temp2 > 95°C)
Critical — Immediate action required
Symptoms
- Miner auto-shuts down or throttles hashrate
- Kernel log shows 'over max temp' warnings
- Fan RPM at maximum but temperature continues rising
- One or more hashboards show temps above 90°C
Step-by-Step Fix
Power off the miner immediately and let it cool for 15 minutes.
Check ambient temperature — ensure room is below 35°C (95°F). Mining rooms should ideally be 15-25°C.
Inspect all fans — verify they are spinning freely and not obstructed. Replace any fans with grinding noises or reduced RPM.
Clean dust from heatsinks and fan intakes using compressed air. Heavy dust buildup is the #1 cause of overheating.
Check thermal paste between ASIC chips and heatsinks. If dried or cracked, clean and reapply quality thermal paste (Arctic MX-4 recommended).
Verify proper airflow — ensure intake and exhaust are not blocked. Maintain 15cm clearance on all sides.
If problem persists after cleaning, the hashboard heatsink contact may be poor — this requires professional reseating.
