BTU Output

Débutant Home Mining

Also known as: Heat output, BTU/hr, Thermal output

Definition

BTU (British Thermal Unit) is the standard unit for measuring heating capacity. Since miners convert nearly all electricity to heat, BTU output = power consumption (watts) x 3.412. A 1,500W miner produces about 5,118 BTU/hr, comparable to a standard portable space heater.

Understanding BTU output helps home miners size their mining operation to their heating needs. A typical room needs 20-30 BTU per square foot. A 3,000W miner (10,236 BTU/hr) can heat a 300-500 sq ft space, making mining equipment a practical alternative to conventional electric heating.

In Simple Terms

Heat output in BTU/hr, calculated as watts times 3.412. Helps compare miners to traditional heaters.

The heat output of a miner measured in British Thermal Units per hour. Calculated as watts multiplied by 3.412. Useful for comparing miners to traditional heaters.
