Open-Source Firmware

Intermédiaire Open Source Mining

Also known as: Community firmware, Open firmware

Definition

Open-source firmware for miners provides transparency, community-driven development, and freedom from vendor lock-in. Users can inspect the code for security issues, customize behavior, and contribute improvements. This aligns with Bitcoin’s own open-source philosophy.

For Bitaxe devices, AxeOS is the primary open-source firmware. For full-size ASICs, Braiins OS (now part of Braiins) offers open-source firmware with features like autotuning and Stratum v2 support. Open-source firmware empowers miners to truly own and control their hardware.

In Simple Terms
