Open-Source Mining

Débutant Open Source Mining

Also known as: OSMU (Open Source Mining Unit), Community mining

Definition

Open-source mining represents a philosophy aligned with Bitcoin’s own open-source ethos. Hardware designs (schematics, PCB layouts, firmware code) are published publicly, enabling community review, manufacturing by multiple vendors, and continuous improvement.

Key open-source mining projects include the Bitaxe family, NerdAxe, NerdQAxe, Nerdminer, NerdNOS, and others. These projects democratize mining hardware, breaking the monopoly of large manufacturers. D-Central is deeply involved in this ecosystem, manufacturing and supporting multiple open-source mining platforms.

In Simple Terms
