Description
Overview
The Bitaxe Ice Cooler Tower Socket is a 3D-printed mounting adapter that lets you attach Ice Cooler Tower heatsinks to your Bitaxe board. If you already own an Ice Cooler Tower (the tall, finned tower cooler commonly used with Raspberry Pi and similar SBCs), this socket provides the mechanical interface between that cooler and the Bitaxe PCB.
The socket replaces the stock thermal pad mounting point with a precision-fit platform that positions the Ice Cooler Tower directly over the ASIC chip. Proper contact pressure and alignment are critical for tower cooler performance — this socket handles both, ensuring the cooler sits flat and transfers heat efficiently. 3D-printed in PETG by D-Central Technologies in Laval, Quebec.

Key Features
- Precision Fit: Engineered to align the Ice Cooler Tower base plate directly over the Bitaxe ASIC chip for maximum thermal contact.
- Secure Mounting: Holds the tower cooler firmly in place — no wobble, no shifting, no risk of the cooler losing contact with the ASIC during operation.
- PETG Heat Resistance: Printed in PETG, which handles the operating temperatures of an overclocked Bitaxe without deformation.
- Easy Installation: Place the socket on the Bitaxe board, apply thermal paste to the ASIC, and seat the tower cooler into the socket. No tools required.
What’s Included
- 1x Bitaxe Ice Cooler Tower Socket (PETG, 3D-printed)
Ice Cooler Tower heatsink, Bitaxe miner, thermal paste, and power supply sold separately.
Compatibility
- Bitaxe Max, Ultra, Supra, Gamma (all single-board models)
- Ice Cooler Tower / 52pi-style tower heatsinks
- Not compatible with: Bitaxe Hex, Bitaxe GT, or non-tower heatsinks
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this include the tower cooler itself?
No. This is the mounting socket only — the adapter that connects a tower cooler to the Bitaxe board. The Ice Cooler Tower heatsink must be purchased separately.
Q: Do I need thermal paste?
Yes. Apply thermal paste (such as IC Diamond or Arctic MX-4) between the ASIC chip and the tower cooler base plate for proper heat transfer. The socket provides mechanical mounting only — it does not include a thermal interface.
Q: Is this better than the stock heatsink?
A tower cooler with this socket provides significantly more thermal mass and surface area than the stock flat heatsink. The improvement is most noticeable when overclocking — tower cooling keeps ASIC temperatures lower at higher clock speeds, enabling stable operation at frequencies that would cause thermal throttling with a stock heatsink.
Q: Will this fit inside enclosed Bitaxe cases?
Tower coolers are tall — they will not fit inside most enclosed Bitaxe cases (Mesh Stand, Mini Miner, etc.). This socket is best used with open stands (Minimalist Stand, Modern Stand without lid) or bare-board setups.
Why D-Central
D-Central Technologies pioneered the Bitaxe accessory ecosystem — we created the first Bitaxe stand and have been designing thermal solutions, sockets, and mounting adapters for the platform since the beginning. Every socket is 3D-printed and inspected at our facility in Laval, Quebec.
