Description
The Antminer S17+ Space Heater Edition. 73 TH/s of SHA-256 hash rate, nearly 10,000 BTU/hr of heat output, and zero wasted energy. Every watt your miner draws becomes heat for your home and hash rate for the Bitcoin network. This is dual-purpose mining at its most powerful.
Built by D-Central Technologies in our Quebec workshop, this custom space heater conversion takes the Bitmain Antminer S17+ — one of the most capable BM1397-based ASICs ever produced — and repackages it inside a purpose-built quiet enclosure designed for residential use. The stock industrial fans are replaced, the PSU fans are swapped for silent alternatives, and the entire unit is tuned for home-friendly noise levels while maintaining serious hash rate. Run it at stock for maximum performance or undervolt it for quieter, more efficient operation. Either way, your electricity bill is doing double duty: heating your space and mining Bitcoin.

Undervolting: Tunable Performance for Every Season
The S17+ Space Heater Edition runs BraiinsOS+ firmware with full autotuning support. This means you control exactly how hard the miner works. In the dead of a Quebec winter, run it at full power for 73 TH/s and nearly 10,000 BTU/hr of heat — enough to warm a large living room or basement. In milder weather, drop the voltage to 1,500-2,200 W and still pull 40-55 TH/s while generating 5,100-7,500 BTU/hr. The miner adapts to your heating needs, not the other way around.
BraiinsOS+ autotuning continuously adjusts chip voltage to find the most efficient operating point. This means better efficiency at every power level — more hash per watt, more heat per dollar of electricity. It is one of the key advantages of the 17-series over older platforms like the S9.
Quiet Enclosure Engineering
A stock Antminer S17+ is a 75+ dB industrial machine. That is unacceptable for home use. Our Space Heater Edition addresses noise at every source:
- Enclosure fans: Choose between stock 120mm fans capped at reduced RPM using our SilentMiner 4-Pin Cable, or upgrade to Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM fans for near-silent operation.
- PSU fans: The notoriously loud APW9 power supply fans are replaced with quiet Sunnon alternatives in every unit we ship.
- Airflow design: The enclosure directs hot air output in a controlled, single direction — functioning like a traditional space heater rather than an open-air industrial rack.
The Standard cooling configuration is suitable for most home environments. The Noctua Silent upgrade is ideal if the unit will operate in a living space, bedroom, or office where noise sensitivity is highest — particularly at undervolted power levels of 1,200-1,500 W.
Quality Control: 95%+ Chip Efficiency
Every S17+ Space Heater Edition goes through our full reconditioning process. We test each hashboard, identify underperforming BM1397 chips, and either repair or disable them until the unit achieves 95%+ chip efficiency. Hashboards with compromised heatsinks are upgraded to our all-in-one heatsink design for superior thermal contact and long-term reliability. After reconditioning, each unit runs a 24-hour burn-in test at operating temperature before it ships. We have repaired thousands of 17-series miners — we know exactly what makes them fail and what makes them last.

The S17+ delivers the highest SHA-256 hash rate and heat output of any Space Heater Edition in the 17-series lineup. If you need maximum heating power and maximum hash rate from a single unit, this is it. For a quieter, lower-power option on the same BM1397 platform, consider the T17+ Edition. For the most efficient watts-per-terahash, the S19 Edition leads the lineup. Not sure which model fits your setup? Read our guide: Best Miners for Space Heaters.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the S17+ Space Heater Edition require 240V?
Yes. The Antminer S17+ draws up to 2,920 W at stock settings, which exceeds the capacity of a standard 110V/15A household circuit. A dedicated 240V circuit is required. Most Canadian and American homes already have 240V available for dryers and stoves — an electrician can install a dedicated outlet if you do not already have one nearby. See our electrical requirements guide for full details.
How loud is it compared to a stock Antminer S17+?
A stock S17+ runs at 75+ dB — loud enough to be uncomfortable in the same room. Our Standard cooling configuration (capped stock fans + silent PSU fans) brings it down significantly. The Noctua Silent upgrade reduces noise further, making it comfortable for living spaces, especially when undervolted to 1,200-1,500 W. At full 2,920 W power, even the Noctua configuration produces noticeable airflow noise, though far quieter than stock.
Can I undervolt it to use less power?
Yes. BraiinsOS+ autotuning lets you set a target power consumption anywhere from roughly 1,200 W to full stock (~2,920 W). Lower power means less heat output and less hash rate, but better efficiency (W/TH) and lower noise. Many home miners run their 17-series heaters at 1,500-2,000 W during shoulder seasons and ramp up to full power in winter.
How much does it cost to run per month?
At full power (~2,920 W) running 24/7 with an electricity rate of $0.07/kWh (Quebec average), monthly electricity cost is approximately $147 CAD. At an undervolted setting of 1,500 W, that drops to roughly $76 CAD/month. Remember: 100% of that electricity becomes heat for your home. In heating season, the electricity is not an additional cost — it replaces your existing heating bill. Use our Mining Profitability Calculator to estimate your specific costs and Bitcoin earnings.
How does it compare to a traditional 10,000 BTU space heater?
A traditional 10,000 BTU electric space heater and the S17+ Space Heater Edition at stock power both draw similar wattage and produce similar heat. The difference: the electric heater produces only heat, while the S17+ also mines Bitcoin. Over a heating season, the Bitcoin earned offsets a portion of the electricity cost. Over multiple years, the math increasingly favors the mining heater. Read the full analysis in our 5-Year Cost Comparison.
What is the 95%+ chip efficiency quality control?
Every reconditioned unit goes through full hashboard testing. We identify BM1397 chips that are underperforming, damaged, or unstable and either repair or disable them. The unit ships only when at least 95% of all chips are hashing at their expected rate. This means consistent performance and fewer hardware errors during operation. Hashboards with compromised stock heatsinks are upgraded to our all-in-one heatsink design.
Can I integrate it with Home Assistant or a smart thermostat?
Yes. BraiinsOS+ exposes a full API that Home Assistant can monitor and control. You can automate power levels based on room temperature, time of day, or electricity pricing. Dedicated thermostat integration kits are in development for future versions. This makes the Space Heater Edition a genuinely smart heating device — one that responds to your home’s needs while continuing to mine.
Is this suitable for year-round use?
In heating season (roughly October through April in most of Canada), run it as your primary or supplemental heat source. In summer, you have options: undervolt to minimal power (still mining, less heat), move it to a basement or garage where heat dissipation is less of a concern, or shut it down entirely. Many home miners run space heaters seasonally and switch to lower-heat devices like Bitaxe miners during warm months.
What happens if a hashboard fails?
Your purchase includes a 90-day warranty. If a hashboard fails within the warranty period, we provide prioritized ASIC repair service to get you back online. Beyond the warranty, our repair team can service any 17-series hashboard — we stock BM1397 chips and replacement parts. This is one advantage of buying from a company that also operates a full repair shop.
Do I need a special internet connection?
No. The S17+ connects via standard Ethernet cable to your home router. Mining uses minimal bandwidth — a few KB/s. Any residential internet connection is more than sufficient. For setup, you access the miner’s web interface through your browser on the local network.
