ASIC Miner – Thermal Paste Degradation

gradually increasing temperatures over weeks

Warning — Should be addressed soon

Affected Models: All ASIC miners older than 18-24 months

Symptoms

  • Gradual temperature increase over weeks or months
  • No sudden failure — slow degradation
  • Higher fan speeds needed to maintain same temperatures
  • Chips run hotter despite clean heatsinks

Step-by-Step Fix

1

Power off the miner and remove the hashboards.

2

Remove heatsinks carefully from each hashboard.

3

Clean old thermal paste from chips and heatsinks using isopropyl alcohol (99%).

Reassemble and monitor temperatures for 24 hours.
