RaspiBlitz is an open-source project, released under the MIT license, that lets a user build and operate a Bitcoin and Lightning Network node on a Raspberry Pi. It is aimed at people who want a do-it-yourself, fully inspectable node rather than a sealed appliance, and it provides pre-built SD-card images plus a guided, menu-driven setup.
What it bundles
At its core RaspiBlitz runs a Bitcoin full node and a Lightning implementation, and it lets the operator extend the machine with additional apps such as block explorers, wallet backends, and connectivity tools. The project is hardware-oriented: it grew out of a workshop format where participants assembled their own node from a Raspberry Pi, an SSD, and a small display, learning the components along the way.
Why builders choose it
Because the entire stack is open and scriptable, RaspiBlitz appeals to users who want to understand and control every layer rather than trust a vendor's image. Running both a Bitcoin node and a Lightning node at home means validating the chain locally and being able to send and receive Lightning payments without a custodian. It is one of several Raspberry-Pi node distributions, and which one suits a given builder depends on their comfort with command-line tooling and their hardware.
RaspiBlitz is a hands-on entry point to running infrastructure. See Lightning Network and Full Node for the systems it runs.
