Description
The D-Central Antminer S9 and L3 Space Heater DIY Box transforms your Antminer S9 or L3+ into a whisper-quiet, dual-purpose Bitcoin or Litecoin miner and space heater. This 3D-printed enclosure is engineered for 140mm silent fans, dramatically reducing the noise of stock ASIC operation while directing warm exhaust air into your living space. Compatible with APW3 and APW7 power supplies, it is the simplest path from idle mining hardware to functional home heating.

Give Your S9 or L3+ a Second Life
The Antminer S9 may not be the most profitable standalone miner anymore, but it is one of the best space heaters in Bitcoin mining. At roughly 1,400W, it produces nearly 4,800 BTU/hr of heat — equivalent to a standard electric space heater. The difference? This one earns Bitcoin while it runs. The same applies to the L3+ for Litecoin mining. Instead of decommissioning old hardware, turn it into a productive heat source.
Whisper-Quiet Operation
Stock Antminer S9 fans run at 6,000+ RPM and produce a deafening roar that makes residential use impossible. This enclosure replaces those industrial fans with 140mm silent alternatives, reducing noise to levels suitable for a home office, living room, or bedroom. The difference is night and day — from data center noise to barely audible.
Simple DIY Assembly
The enclosure is designed for straightforward assembly. Your Antminer S9 or L3+ drops into the case, the 140mm fans mount in dedicated positions, and the PSU connects as normal. No soldering, no firmware modifications, no special tools. If you can use a screwdriver, you can build this.
Designed and Printed in Canada
Every enclosure is 3D printed by D-Central at our facility in Canada. This is not mass-produced injection-molded plastic — it is purpose-built, tested, and backed by a team that specializes in home mining solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will stock S9 fans fit in this enclosure?
The enclosure is designed for 140mm aftermarket fans, not the stock Antminer fans. The whole point is to replace the loud stock fans with quiet alternatives. You will need to source 140mm fans separately.
Is the S9 still profitable for Bitcoin mining?
Profitability depends on your electricity cost. At high power prices, the S9 may not be profitable as a standalone miner. However, when used as a space heater, the equation changes: you are replacing an electric heater that earns nothing with one that earns Bitcoin. The heating value offsets the electricity cost, making any Bitcoin earned a net positive.
Can I use this with an L3+ for Litecoin mining?
Yes. The enclosure fits both the Antminer S9 (Bitcoin/SHA-256) and the L3+ (Litecoin/Scrypt). The form factors are similar enough that the same enclosure works for both.
How much room will this heat?
At approximately 4,800 BTU/hr (S9 at 1,400W), this setup can noticeably heat a small to medium room (150-250 sq ft). It works best as supplemental heating or as the primary heat source for a small space like a home office.
Why Buy from D-Central?
D-Central Technologies pioneered the Bitcoin space heater concept for home miners. We design and 3D-print these enclosures in Canada, and we use them ourselves. As Bitcoin mining hackers, we believe every piece of mining hardware should work for its owner — even old S9s deserve a second life warming your home and stacking sats. Every hash counts.
