The Kernel Log records the operational stages of the ANTMINER and can be a valuable tool for troubleshooting common issues. To check the Kernel Log, enter the backend of the miner, click “system”, and locate the “Kernel Log” option.
Common Problems and Solutions:
1. Fan Error
If the miner’s fan is not functioning or cannot achieve the necessary speed, the Kernel Log will display relevant error messages.
a. Verify the fan connector is fully inserted into the socket and that the fan cable isn’t damaged.
b. Test with a functioning fan. If the problem persists, replace the control board.
c. Reset the miner to factory settings.
d. If all else fails, return the miner to us for repair.
2. PIC Error
If the Kernel Log shows a PIC Error, there might be issues with the control board’s signal cable.
a. Ensure the signal cable in the control board is correctly connected.
b. Test with a functioning control board and update to the latest firmware.
3. Hashboard Issue
The Kernel Log might show errors related to missing chips or hashboards.
a. For missing chips, replace the PSU and ensure the miner is properly grounded.
b. For missing hashboards, check that the cables are in good condition and correctly placed.
4. High CRC Error Counter
A high CRC error counter may indicate instability in the chips.
Reload the firmware and test with a different PSU.
5. Network Issue
Network-related errors could appear in the Kernel Log.
Inspect the network settings, Ethernet cable, connectors, routers, or switches. Consulting with a professional network engineer is recommended.
6. Overtemperature Protection
If the miner’s temperature is too high, it will cease operation, and an error will appear in the Kernel Log.
Refer to this article for detailed instructions on managing miner temperatures: https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008523893
7. Pool Connecting Issue
Errors connecting to the mining pool can also be indicated in the Kernel Log.
a. Verify you’ve entered the correct pool address.
b. Ping the pool to check if it’s connected.
c. Test to confirm the network is functioning correctly.
