Description

Turn your idle Antminer S17 or T17 into a quiet, functional space heater — without touching a soldering iron. This Canadian-made enclosure replaces your miner’s stock housing and industrial fans with a compact, living-room-friendly case equipped with silent 120 mm fans. You supply the miner and PSU. We supply the case, the fans, the hardware, and the instructions. Every watt your ASIC pulls from the wall becomes heat for your home and hashrate for the Bitcoin network.

If you already own an S17 or T17 series miner sitting in a garage or closet because it’s too loud for indoor use, this case is how you bring it inside. The conversion is straightforward: remove the miner from its stock shell, mount the hashboard and control board into the heater case, connect the silent fans, and plug in. Full assembly walkthrough: Space Heater Assembly & Maintenance Guide.

Why Convert Your Miner Into a Space Heater?

Every ASIC miner converts 100% of its electrical draw into heat. That’s physics — not marketing. An S17 pulling 1,200 W from the wall produces 1,200 W of heat, which is roughly equivalent to a mid-range portable electric heater. The difference: your electric heater produces nothing but warmth. Your S17 produces warmth and Bitcoin hashrate.

The obstacle has always been noise. Stock Antminer fans run at 70–80 dB — fine in a warehouse, unbearable in a living room. This case solves that by replacing the industrial fan assembly with quiet 120 mm fans, dropping noise to levels comparable to a desktop PC. The result is a miner that can run in your home office, bedroom, or basement without dominating the soundscape.

Built for the Full S17/T17 Family

This case is engineered to fit the entire S17 and T17 generation. Whether you have the base S17, the higher-hashrate S17+, the efficient S17 Pro, or any of the T17 variants, the internal dimensions and mounting points accommodate them all.

Miner Model Algorithm Typical Hashrate Power Range Compatible
Antminer S17 SHA-256 50–56 TH/s ~1,975–2,520 W Yes (downclock recommended)
Antminer S17+ SHA-256 70–73 TH/s ~2,800–2,920 W Yes (downclock recommended)
Antminer S17 Pro SHA-256 50–56 TH/s ~1,975–2,212 W Yes (downclock recommended)
Antminer T17 SHA-256 40 TH/s ~2,200 W Yes (downclock recommended)
Antminer T17+ SHA-256 55–64 TH/s ~2,750–3,200 W Yes (downclock recommended)
Antminer T17e SHA-256 50–53 TH/s ~2,750 W Yes (downclock recommended)

Important — downclocking: At stock settings, these miners draw 2,000–3,200 W, which exceeds the case’s 1,200 W fan-cooling capacity. You will need to downclock using custom firmware (such as Braiins OS+ or Vnish) to bring power draw into the 1,000–1,200 W range. This is standard practice for all space heater conversions and is covered in our assembly guide.

Designed for DIY Builders

This is a case — not a plug-and-play appliance. It’s built for the home miner who already owns (or plans to buy) an S17 or T17 series unit and wants to convert it for indoor use. The conversion requires basic hand tools and about an hour of your time. No soldering, no electrical work, no firmware wizardry beyond the initial downclock setup.

Assembly steps:

  1. Remove your miner from its stock aluminum housing
  2. Mount the hashboard assembly and control board into the heater case
  3. Install the included 120 mm silent fans
  4. Connect fan power and reassemble
  5. Flash custom firmware and set your power target to 1,000–1,200 W
  6. Connect to your pool, point the warm exhaust into the room, and mine

Canadian-Made Quality

This case is manufactured by D-Central in Laval, Quebec. We’ve been building Bitcoin mining hardware and accessories since 2016 — we were among the first to pioneer the space heater conversion concept and have shipped thousands of cases to home miners across North America. Every case is inspected before it ships. If something doesn’t fit or you have questions during assembly, our support team has hands-on experience with every S17/T17 variant and can walk you through it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this case include the miner?

No. This is a DIY conversion case only. You supply your own Antminer S17 or T17 series miner and PSU. The case includes the enclosure, silent fans, and mounting hardware. If you want a complete ready-to-run unit, see our S17 Space Heater Edition or T17 Space Heater Edition.

Which specific S17/T17 models fit this case?

The case is compatible with: Antminer S17, S17+, S17 Pro, T17, T17+, and T17e. All share the same general form factor, so a single case design fits the entire family.

Do I need custom firmware to use this?

Yes. At stock settings, S17/T17 miners draw 2,000–3,200 W, which far exceeds the 1,200 W cooling capacity of the silent fans. You need to install custom firmware like Braiins OS+ or Vnish and set the power limit to 1,000–1,200 W. Both firmware options are free or low-cost and take about 15 minutes to install.

How loud is it after the conversion?

With the silent 120 mm fans and a downclocked power target of 1,000–1,200 W, expect noise levels roughly comparable to a desktop PC or a box fan on low — typically 35–45 dB depending on your specific model and firmware settings. Stock miners run at 70–80 dB, so this is a dramatic reduction. See our ASIC Noise Reduction Guide for further tips.

How much heat does it produce?

At 1,000–1,200 W, the miner produces 1,000–1,200 watts of heat — equivalent to a standard portable electric space heater. This is enough to comfortably heat a small-to-medium room (roughly 150–250 sq ft depending on insulation). Use our Bitcoin Space Heater BTU Calculator to estimate coverage for your space.

What tools do I need for assembly?

Basic hand tools: a Phillips screwdriver, and optionally a small pair of pliers. No soldering or electrical work required. The build takes roughly 45–60 minutes for a first-timer. Our assembly guide walks through every step with photos.

What electrical circuit do I need?

At 1,000–1,200 W, a standard 15 A / 120 V household circuit can handle the miner and PSU comfortably. Avoid sharing the circuit with other high-draw appliances. For detailed wiring guidance, see our Bitcoin Space Heater Electrical Requirements Guide.

Can D-Central repair my S17/T17 if it has issues?

Absolutely. We’re one of the leading ASIC repair shops in North America, with specific expertise in S17 and T17 series miners. If your miner needs diagnostics, hashboard repair, or maintenance before or after the heater conversion, visit our ASIC Repair page or open a support ticket.
