S19a Pro Mining Machine Online Upgrade Tutorial

Start with safety and logs

Power down before opening a miner, label cables before moving boards, and capture logs before repeated reboots erase useful evidence. Record model, firmware, pool, uptime, fan speed, temperature, reject rate, chain count, and the exact error text.

Confirm the fault class

Separate configuration faults from hardware faults first. Pool errors, DNS failures, bad worker names, overheating, weak power, fan faults, and missing hashboards can look similar from the dashboard but require different fixes.

Document the test path

Change one variable at a time and keep the before/after result. Note cable swaps, PSU swaps, firmware changes, pool changes, fan replacements, ambient temperature, and whether the fault follows a hashboard, control board, network, or power source.

When to escalate

Escalate to professional repair when there is a burned smell, melted connector, breaker trip, corrosion, repeated hashboard loss, liquid exposure, or a board-level fault that returns after a basic cable, power, firmware, and airflow check.

After the fix

Run the miner long enough to confirm stable accepted hashrate, fan behavior, chip temperature, reject rate, and pool-side reporting. A dashboard that looks normal for five minutes is not enough evidence for a recurring power, heat, or hashboard fault.

Follow the steps below to upgrade your S19a Pro Mining Machine:

Step 1: Preparation

Hardware Needed:

  1. Computer (Windows Operating System)
  2. Miner (or control board)
  3. Router

Software Needed:

  1. Latest firmware from official website
  2. IPReporter Tool
  3. Google Chrome browser (or Firefox browser)

Step 2: Logging into the Miner Background

  1. Connect the computer and miner (or control board) to the router (set as DHCP service). Ensure both are connected to the same network segment.
  2. Open the IPReporter tool and click ‘Start’.
  3. Press the IP Report button on the miner or control board. Wait for 0.5 seconds. The indicator on the miner will flash red and green light 5 times quickly, indicating successful IP feedback to the network.
  4. The IPReporter software will display the miner’s IP address and MAC address. Note down the IP address.
  5. Open your web browser and enter the IP address into the address bar.
  6. You will be prompted to enter your username and password. The default for both is ‘root’. If they were changed previously, use the updated information to log in.

Step 3: Miner Upgrade

  1. In the miner’s background interface, navigate to the ‘System’ dropdown menu. The firmware upgrade option is hidden here. Click on ‘Firmware Upgrade’.
  2. Click the ‘Upload’ button in the firmware upgrade page. This will open the file selection window. Navigate to the location where you saved the latest firmware and select the respective firmware. Click ‘Open’.
  3. Verify the correct firmware name is displayed in the firmware files window bar and then click ‘Upgrade Firmware’.
  4. The system will display a message indicating the firmware is being upgraded. Wait for the process to complete. The miner will automatically restart – this process can take around 1 minute.
  5. After the firmware upgrade is successful, the miner will refresh the page. This means the upgrade process is complete.
  6. To confirm the upgrade was successful, check the miner’s firmware version. If it matches the version of the firmware you uploaded, the upgrade was successful.
