Why this record is not a retail miner specification
No Intel-controlled source located in this review authenticates “BZM2” as the exact name of the published research chip or maps it to a 137 GH/s / 3.6 W product.
Three measurement scopes that must remain separate
- First-generation research chip: Intel’s ISSCC material reports one chip at 137 billion hashes per second and 2.5 W under the cited operating point. That derives to approximately 18.25 J/TH at chip scope.
- Voltage-stacked board: the research architecture uses 25 chips in a voltage stack and an 8.875 V main supply. Board-level consumption is not the single-chip number.
- Prototype system: conference reporting describes a separate roughly 300-chip demonstrator near 40 TH/s and 3,600 W, or roughly 90 J/TH. These are system totals.
The former directory record combined the 137 GH/s chip result with 3.6 W, creating an invalid 26 J/TH value. Neither that pair nor the page’s conflicting 2.5 W prose represents an authenticated BZM2 retail miner.
Later accelerator boundary
Intel Blockscale is a later SHA-256 accelerator component/reference-design platform, not a complete retail miner and not evidence that the earlier research device was named BZM2. Its chip, chain and thermal specifications must not be imported into this record.
