NerdMiner v2 project reference

NerdMiner v2 is free, open-source software from BitMaker-hub that implements Bitcoin solo-pool work on supported ESP32 boards. It is an educational and lottery-style project, not one standardized ASIC appliance or a comparison-grade mining product.

What the project is for

The upstream project says its main aim is to help people learn about mining while running on a small desktop device. It implements Stratum communication, updates work when a pool sends a new job, and displays project and Bitcoin network statistics. Its extremely low share difficulty means many standard pools will not recognize its work; use only a pool that explicitly supports low-difficulty devices.

Board and build boundary

“NerdMiner” names a project spanning many ESP32 implementations. The upstream build list includes multiple LILYGO displays, ESP32 development boards, camera boards, compact dongles, M5 devices, Waveshare boards, and other community-supported targets. Processor, display, clocking, firmware build, peripherals, and power source vary by implementation.

For that reason, this reference does not publish a universal hashrate, wattage, efficiency, noise level, size, weight, connector, adapter requirement, or price. Those values belong to an identified board and assembled product revision—not to the project as a whole.

Safe flashing workflow

  1. Identify the exact board and revision before selecting a binary.
  2. Use the matching board directory from the official repository or an upstream release.
  3. Verify the repository owner and release origin before granting a browser serial flasher access.
  4. Back up configuration where supported and never substitute firmware intended for an ASIC-equipped Nerd-family product.
  5. Configure a Bitcoin payout address and a compatible low-difficulty solo pool carefully; an incorrect address can direct any reward elsewhere.

NerdMiner v2 is CPU-only ESP32 software. It must not be confused with NerdAxe, NerdQaxe, Bitaxe, or other products that contain dedicated SHA-256 ASICs.

Probability and economics boundary

The project attempts valid Bitcoin work, but it is designed for learning and lottery-style participation. It is not presented here with revenue, payback, profitability, heat-reuse, or “best miner” claims, and it is excluded from ASIC performance comparisons. Finding a block is possible in protocol terms but extraordinarily unlikely at microcontroller scale.
