Description

Bitcoin Space Heater

The Bitcoin space heater combines Bitcoin mining with home heating in one device.

Your most expensive appliance may already be electric heat. The Antminer S19 Space Heater Edition is a configurable conversion whose delivered base miner, PSU, controller, firmware, fan package and tested profile determine its hashrate, wall power, heat output and acoustics. Every watt you spend on heat now mines Bitcoin. Built by hand in our Quebec workshop, this is D-Central’s flagship space heater and our best-seller since we pioneered the concept.

We start with a Bitmain Antminer S19 series (BM1398 chips), strip it down, replace stock fans with quiet 120 mm units, install custom firmware tuned for quiet, undervolted heating duty, and house everything in our custom silent enclosure. The result is a Bitcoin space-heater conversion. Input voltage and maximum continuous current are configuration-specific and must match the supplied PSU, plug, equipment markings and branch circuit. SHA-256 mining converts nearly all consumed electrical energy into heat, but room performance depends on the measured delivered profile and the building. A watt is a watt. Ours just mines Bitcoin on the way to becoming heat.

Electrical configuration: follow the delivered unit

This product family does not establish universal 120 V, 240 V or automatic transition capability. Before energizing a unit, verify the supplied base miner, PSU input label, maximum continuous current, plug and receptacle, breaker, conductor ampacity and applicable code. Do not connect a profile whose measured continuous current exceeds the branch-circuit design. Use a qualified electrician where required.

Hashrate, wall power and heat are delivered-profile observations, not promises inherited across the S19 family. The order record and unit test sheet must identify the exact configuration.

Silent Enclosure & Cooling

Stock Antminers are industrial machines. They sound like it. We strip the factory fans and replace them with premium residential-grade cooling: Arctic P12 Max fans for energy-efficient setups (800–1,200W) or Noctua iPPC 3000 fans for heavier workloads (1,200W+). Both options keep noise in the 45–55 dB range — comparable to a window air conditioner, not a jet engine.

Our custom enclosure is designed to eliminate heat trapping, direct airflow efficiently, and maintain a compact footprint that fits on a shelf, beside a desk, or against a wall. This is not a bare miner sitting on a milk crate. This is a purpose-built home appliance designed to live in your space.

Firmware: exact-model and controller compatibility

Firmware support is not universal across the S19 series. Use only the build authenticated for the exact base model, controller and hardware revision supplied with the unit. Record its source and checksum, follow its documented installation procedure, and keep a tested rollback or recovery path. Tuning software cannot make an incompatible PSU, connector or branch circuit safe.

Available monitoring and automation capabilities depend on that exact firmware build and configuration; they are not guaranteed by the family name.

The Physics: Why Mining Heaters Make Sense

A 1,500W electric space heater converts 1,500W of electricity into 1,500W of heat. A 1,500W Bitcoin miner converts 1,500W of electricity into 1,500W of heat and Bitcoin. The thermodynamics are identical — the first law says energy is conserved. The only difference is that one machine produces hash rate on the way to becoming heat. Your heating bill stays the same. Your sats stack up. Read the full 5-year cost comparison vs. a traditional electric heater.

In a Canadian winter — six or seven months where you need heat — this is not a novelty. It is an engineering decision. You are already spending that electricity. The question is whether you want it to do one job or two. Use our BTU calculator to size it for your room.

Heat Coverage Guide

Power Profile BTU/hr Room Size Best For
Delivered low-power profile ~5,100 BTU/hr 150–250 sq ft Office, bedroom, den
Delivered higher-power profile ~8,190 BTU/hr 250–400 sq ft Large bedroom, open office, workshop
Delivered full-power profile Calculate from the delivered measured wall-power profile 400–600 sq ft Living room, basement, garage, studio

Coverage varies with insulation, ceiling height, and climate. Canadian winters with poor insulation may require supplemental heating for larger spaces. Use our BTU calculator for a precise estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How loud is the Antminer S19 Space Heater Edition?

45–55 dB depending on your power profile and fan choice. For reference, a normal conversation is about 60 dB. On the Arctic P12 Max fans at 1,200W or below, most people describe it as a steady low hum — noticeable if the room is silent, easy to ignore with any background noise. The Noctua iPPC 3000 fans handle higher wattages while staying in the same range. It is not silent, but it is far from the 75+ dB industrial roar of a stock Antminer.

Can I run this on an existing household circuit?

Only when the delivered PSU input label, plug and measured continuous current are compatible with that exact circuit. Verify voltage, receptacle, breaker, conductor ampacity, other loads and continuous-load requirements before use. The S19 family name does not establish 120 V capability. Consult a qualified electrician where required.

How much Bitcoin will this mine?

Use the hashrate measured on the delivered unit’s exact test profile together with current network conditions and pool terms. No family-level hashrate or profitability promise applies to every S19 conversion.

How much heat does it produce? Will it actually warm my room?

Heat output tracks the delivered unit’s measured wall power; approximately 3.412 BTU per hour is produced per watt consumed. Actual room response depends on the tested profile, airflow, insulation, ceiling height, climate and ventilation. Use the delivered measurement rather than a family-level rating.

Is this a new or refurbished unit?

Refurbished. We source Antminer S19 units, open them up, clean every heatsink and channel, inspect all connectors and harnesses, replace thermal paste and pads where needed, swap fans, install custom firmware, and run a full 24-hour soak test under load before it ships. Every unit must hit hash rate, thermal, and acoustic targets. You receive a machine that is clean, stable, and built for home use.

Which firmware can this configuration use?

Compatibility depends on the exact base model, controller and hardware revision. The delivered configuration should identify its authenticated firmware build and recovery procedure. Do not install a family-level image or infer compatibility from another S19 variant.

Can I integrate the delivered unit with home automation?

Only if the exact delivered firmware exposes a documented local interface and the automation preserves the unit’s electrical and thermal limits. A software command must not be used to exceed the supplied PSU, connector or branch-circuit rating.

What happens in summer when I do not need heating?

You have options. Shut it down and store it — it is just an appliance. Move it to a garage, basement, or utility space with ventilation and keep mining year-round. Reduce it to minimum power for modest hash rate with minimal heat. Or vent the exhaust outdoors. Some customers run them in workshops or outbuildings during warm months. The dual-purpose advantage is strongest during heating season, but the miner works year-round wherever you can manage the heat.

What warranty does this come with?

90-day warranty on D-Central’s conversion and tuning work. If anything goes wrong with the fan swap, enclosure, firmware configuration, or power supply modification within 90 days, we handle it with priority repairs. Keep the security seals intact. If you need ASIC repair after the warranty period, we are still here — we have repaired thousands of miners in our Quebec workshop.

How does this compare to buying a regular Antminer S19 and converting it myself?

You can absolutely DIY it — we even sell the Slim Edition and Loki Edition for builders who want different form factors. The Space Heater Edition saves you the time and risk of sourcing quiet fans, designing a proper enclosure, flashing firmware, and running a soak test. Every unit we ship has been tested for 24 hours under load. If you value your time or want a plug-and-play experience, this is it.
