Description

The Antminer T17+ Space Heater Edition. 58 TH/s of SHA-256 hash rate and nearly 10,000 BTU/hr of heat output — enough to warm a large room while mining Bitcoin around the clock. Built by D-Central Technologies in Quebec, this dual-purpose machine turns your heating bill into hash rate.

The Bitmain Antminer T17+ shares the same BM1397 chip platform as the S17 series but trades a few terahashes for a simpler, more reliable board design. D-Central takes the T17+, reconditions it to 95%+ chip efficiency, replaces the industrial cooling with quiet fans, swaps the noisy PSU fans for silent alternatives, and installs it inside a purpose-built residential enclosure. The result: a plug-and-play space heater that mines Bitcoin. Run it at stock power for maximum heat, or undervolt it with BraiinsOS+ for a quieter, more efficient setup during milder weather.

Dual Power Modes: Tune It to Your Season

The T17+ Space Heater Edition runs BraiinsOS+ with full autotuning, giving you complete control over power consumption and hash rate. At stock settings, the T17+ pulls ~2,900 W and delivers its full 58 TH/s — pumping nearly 10,000 BTU/hr of heat into your space. That is serious heating power, equivalent to a large electric space heater, except this one is also mining Bitcoin.

For quieter operation or milder weather, drop the power target. At ~1,000 W, the T17+ still delivers a respectable ~34 TH/s at roughly 30 W/TH — one of the better efficiency points for this platform. At ~1,500 W, you get around 40 TH/s with moderate heat output. BraiinsOS+ autotuning continuously adjusts chip voltage to find the sweet spot at whatever power level you choose. Match your miner’s output to your heating needs, season by season.

Quiet Enclosure Engineering

A stock Antminer T17+ runs at 75 dB — loud enough to be heard through walls. Our Space Heater Edition addresses every noise source:

  • Enclosure fans: Choose between stock 120mm fans modulated to reduced RPM using our SilentMiner 4-Pin Cable, or upgrade to Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM fans for near-silent airflow.
  • PSU fans: The APW9 power supply is the single loudest component in an undervolted 17-series setup. We replace the stock PSU fans with quiet Sunnon alternatives in every unit.
  • Directed airflow: The custom enclosure channels hot air in a single controlled direction, functioning like a traditional space heater rather than blowing hot air in all directions.

The Noctua Silent configuration is the best choice for living spaces, bedrooms, and offices — particularly at undervolted power levels of 1,000-1,500 W where fan speed requirements are lower. The Standard configuration works well for basements, garages, workshops, and dedicated mining rooms.

Quality Control: 95%+ Chip Efficiency

Every T17+ Space Heater Edition goes through D-Central’s full reconditioning process. We test each hashboard individually, identify underperforming or unstable BM1397 chips, and repair or disable them until the unit achieves 95%+ chip efficiency. Hashboards with degraded stock heatsinks are upgraded to our all-in-one heatsink design for better thermal contact and long-term stability. After reconditioning, each unit completes a 24-hour burn-in test at operating temperature. We have repaired thousands of 17-series miners in our Quebec workshop — we know exactly where these boards fail and how to prevent it.

Space Heater Edition Comparison

Model Hash Rate Power Heat (BTU/hr) Voltage Best For
S9 Edition ~13.5 TH/s ~1,350 W ~4,600 110/240V Small rooms, beginners
L3+ Edition ~504 MH/s (Scrypt) ~800 W ~2,730 110/240V Small rooms, low power
S17 Edition ~56 TH/s ~2,520 W ~8,600 240V Large rooms
S17+ Edition ~73 TH/s ~2,920 W ~9,960 240V Large rooms, max performance
T17 Edition ~40 TH/s ~2,200 W ~7,500 240V Medium-large rooms
T17+ Edition (this unit) ~58 TH/s ~2,900 W ~9,890 240V Large rooms, high heat
S19 Edition ~40-56 TH/s ~1,100-1,200 W ~3,750-4,090 110/240V Efficiency-first, quiet

The T17+ delivers nearly identical heat output to the S17+ at similar power draw, but the T17 platform is historically more reliable due to its simpler board design. If you want maximum hash rate from the 17-series, choose the S17+ Edition (73 TH/s). If you want similar heating power with a focus on board-level reliability, the T17+ is a strong choice. For the most efficient watts-per-terahash in a lower-power package, consider the S19 Edition. Not sure which model fits your space? Read our guide: Best Miners for Space Heaters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the T17+ Space Heater Edition require 240V?

Yes. At stock settings the T17+ draws ~2,900 W, which exceeds the capacity of standard 110V/15A circuits. A dedicated 240V outlet is required. Most North American homes have 240V available for dryers and stoves — an electrician can install a dedicated outlet near your desired location. Read our electrical requirements guide for detailed wiring information.

How loud is it?

A stock Antminer T17+ runs at 75 dB — far too loud for residential use. Our Standard configuration (RPM-capped stock fans + silent PSU fans) reduces noise significantly. The Noctua Silent upgrade takes it further, making it comfortable for living spaces when undervolted to 1,000-1,500 W. At full 2,900 W power, airflow noise is still noticeable but dramatically quieter than stock. The PSU fan swap alone makes a massive difference — in undervolted 17-series setups, the APW9 fans are often the loudest component.

What is the difference between the T17+ and the S17+?

Both use BM1397 chips and draw similar power (~2,900 W). The S17+ delivers more hash rate (73 TH/s vs 58 TH/s) because it has more chips per board. The T17+ has a simpler board layout that some miners consider more reliable long-term. Both produce nearly identical heat output. Choose the S17+ for maximum hash rate, or the T17+ for similar heating power with a more straightforward board design.

Can I undervolt it?

Yes. BraiinsOS+ autotuning lets you set any power target from roughly 1,000 W up to the full ~2,900 W. At low power mode (~1,000 W), the T17+ delivers approximately 34 TH/s at ~30 W/TH — excellent efficiency for this chip generation. At ~1,500 W, expect around 40 TH/s. Undervolting reduces heat output, noise, and power cost while maintaining good efficiency.

How much does it cost to run?

At stock power (~2,900 W) running 24/7 with Quebec’s average electricity rate of $0.07/kWh, monthly cost is approximately $146 CAD. At 1,500 W undervolted, that drops to roughly $76 CAD/month. At 1,000 W, approximately $50 CAD/month. All of that electricity becomes heat. During heating season, the mining heater replaces an equivalent electric heater — the Bitcoin earned is a net benefit. Estimate your specific costs with our Mining Profitability Calculator.

What comes pre-installed?

BraiinsOS+ firmware is installed and configured before shipping. On first boot, you access the miner’s web interface via your browser (the miner connects to your network via Ethernet), enter your mining pool or solo mining details, and optionally adjust the autotuning power target. Setup takes under 10 minutes. For step-by-step instructions, see our Assembly Guide.

Can I use it with Home Assistant?

Yes. BraiinsOS+ exposes an API that Home Assistant can read and control. You can automate power levels based on room temperature, time of day, or electricity rates. Thermostat integration kits are in development for future versions. This turns the Space Heater Edition into a genuinely smart heating device — adjusting its output to your home’s needs automatically.

Is the T17+ reliable?

The T17+ is considered one of the more reliable members of the Bitmain 17-series family. Its simpler board design means fewer points of failure compared to the higher-hashrate S17+. That said, every 17-series miner benefits from quality reconditioning — which is exactly what we do. Our 95%+ chip efficiency testing, heatsink upgrades, and 24-hour burn-in test ensure you receive a unit that is stable and ready for continuous operation. If anything does go wrong, our ASIC repair team has deep experience with every 17-series variant.

What warranty is included?

Every Space Heater Edition ships with a 90-day warranty. If a hardware issue occurs within that period, we provide prioritized repair service to get you back online. Security seals must remain intact for warranty eligibility. Beyond the warranty period, our repair shop can service any 17-series miner — we stock BM1397 chips, hashboards, and all necessary components.

Is it suitable for summer use?

At full power, the T17+ produces nearly 10,000 BTU/hr — that is significant heat. In summer, you can undervolt to 1,000 W for less heat while still mining, relocate the unit to a basement or garage, or shut it down until fall. Many home miners run their high-power space heaters October through April and switch to low-power miners like the Bitaxe during warm months.
