ASIC Miner Firmware Compatibility: Which Firmware Flashes on Your Model

Control board, install media, recovery and firmware support (Stock, BraiinsOS+, VNish, LuxOS, DCENT_OS) for every major ASIC model.

Quick answer

Which firmware can you flash on your ASIC? This matrix maps 22 miner models to their control board (Zynq, Amlogic, BeagleBone, ESP32…), install media, brick-recovery method, secure-boot state, and which firmwares are known to support them — Stock, BraiinsOS+, VNish, LuxOS, and D-Central's own DCENT_OS.

All 13 DCENT_OS registry models are AVAILABILITY: RELEASED and MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL. Binary, mining, installation and recovery evidence stays separate and exact-lane specific; confirm the exact board before any write.

DCENT_OS hardware evidence and install readiness

Six axes stay separate: availability, maturity, binary, mining, installation and recovery. Evidence on one axis never silently promotes another.

Antminer S9
Zynq/Xilinx am1-s9; redundant-slot NAND, with a separate removable-media boot route
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
A verified S9 Zynq/Xilinx sysupgrade archive and a bootable SD image are listed in the current artifact ledger. The project platform matrix reports standalone cold-boot mining with pool-accepted shares on the BM1387 Zynq lane; this website does not claim an independent reproduction.Bitmain's S9 recovery documentation distinguishes complete-board CRT0401/CRT0402 (JP4), CRT0302 (AB pads), and CRT0301 (no SD slot). The public DCENT_OS trial documents only the JP4 route; no other PCB revision inherits that authorization. The current public evidence still lacks a complete witnessed first-install, soak and persistent-recovery capstone for this release.
For the documented removable-media trial, power off, return JP4 to its photographed original position, remove the SD card, then boot untouched NAND. Other S9 PCB revisions require their own verified route. A witnessed persistent stock-restoration procedure for this exact release is not published.

Antminer S9 SE
Ctrl_C43 / XC7Z007S, tracked separately as am1-s9se
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S9 SE prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The model is still Released/Experimental; build-output metadata is not a download. The public source records exact model identity and detection evidence, but no callable production mining runtime or accepted-share proof for this lane. The am1-s9se install row marks update, external media and general installation not implemented or denied. Do not use the S9 image.
No model-specific installation write is authorized and no model-specific recovery-write route is published.

Antminer T17
Zynq/Xilinx am2-t17 with a PIC16 control path
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified T17 prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The source row is management-only and does not establish a current accepted-share mining path on a live T17.The am2-t17 install row has no implemented update or external-media route and denies installation.
No model-specific persistent write or recovery procedure is authorized.
Evidence page
Antminer S17
Zynq/Xilinx; source mapping uses am2-s17p and must not be read as an S17 Pro install promise
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S17 prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The current evidence records a BM1397 source profile, not a reproduced accepted-share result on an exact S17 fleet unit. The mapped source target has update and external media not implemented and installation denied. No separate exact-model route is published.
No exact S17 persistent installation or stock-restoration procedure is authorized.
Evidence page
Antminer T17+
Zynq/Xilinx am2-t17plus with a PIC16 control path
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified T17+ prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The source identifies the BM1397/PIC16 route, but the public evidence does not establish accepted shares on an exact T17+ unit. The am2-t17plus install row marks update, media and recovery not implemented and installation denied.
No model-specific persistent write or recovery route is published.
Evidence page
Antminer S17+
Zynq/Xilinx am2-s17plus with a PIC16 control path
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S17+ prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The source identifies the BM1397/PIC16 route, but the public evidence does not establish accepted shares on an exact S17+ unit. The am2-s17plus install row marks update, media and recovery not implemented and installation denied.
No model-specific persistent write or recovery route is published.

Antminer S19
Zynq/Xilinx source identity; no standalone exact S19 row exists in the canonical install matrix
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S19 prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The source retains BM1398 identity and shared driver-path work, but this registry does not claim current accepted shares on an exact S19 unit.No standalone exact S19 row is published in the canonical install matrix. It must not silently inherit the S19 Pro or S19j Pro route.
No exact-model persistent install or stock-restoration route is published.
Evidence page
Antminer S19 Pro
Zynq/Xilinx am2-s19pro with redundant slots
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S19 Pro prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. A build producer name is not a public release asset.Historical cold-boot work produced nonce flow, but no pool-accepted share is proven for the current native BM1398 path; current electrical admission remains fail-closed.The am2-s19pro update mechanism is experimental and lab-only. Public-beta installation is false and no general stock-firmware first-install route is published.
Generated boot-media evidence is lab-only; no model-specific operator recovery procedure is published.
Evidence page
Antminer S19j Pro
Verified artifact: am2-s19j Zynq/Xilinx; BeagleBone, Amlogic, CVitek and STM32MP15 are separate, unauthorized lanes for that file
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
A verified S19j Pro Zynq/Xilinx sysupgrade archive is listed in the current artifact ledger. The project matrix reports accepted shares on the Zynq lane and historical runtime proof on BeagleBone; this website does not claim an independent reproduction. The verified package supports a guarded DCENT_OS-to-DCENT_OS update on am2-s19j. Public vendor-stock first installation remains an evidence gap, and public_beta_install is false in the source matrix.
No witnessed vendor-stock first-install and stock-restoration capstone is published for the exact artifact.
Evidence page
Antminer S19k Pro
Amlogic am3-s19k, single-slot, NoPic lane
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S19k Pro prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. Build-producer metadata is not a download URL.The current project ledger records a bounded Track-1 temporary-runtime accepted-share proof with terminal SafeOff, not an endurance or installed-image qualification. The am3-s19k host-rootfs-window update is experimental and lab-only. No external-media route or public first-install procedure is authorized.
Recovery is evidence-only in the source matrix; no general operator recovery runbook is published.
Evidence page
Antminer S21
Amlogic am3-s21, single-slot, NoPic lane
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S21 prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The project matrix records accepted shares on an earlier runtime path; that result has not been reproduced on a verified current public binary. The am3-s21 host-rootfs-window path is experimental and lab-only. Stock AMLCtrl in-place installation remains blocked.
No external-media or model-specific stock-restoration route is published.
Evidence page
Antminer S21 XP
Amlogic am3-s21xp; package and exact topology evidence only
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL
No verified S21 XP prebuilt binary is listed in the current artifact ledger. The source records exact topology and package-format evidence, but the installed runtime remains management-only and no accepted-share proof is claimed. The am3-s21xp install row has no implemented update mechanism, denies installation and authorizes no persistent update.
No external-media, installation-write or recovery route is published.
Evidence page
Antminer S21 Pro
Amlogic am3-s21pro, single-slot, NoPic lane
AVAILABILITY: RELEASED
MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL

Antminer S19j Pro is Released on the Experimental channel. A verified prebuilt archive exists for the exact am2-s19j Zynq lane; other control boards and vendor-stock first install remain separate evidence gaps.

Which firmware for which model?

Which firmware can I run on an Antminer S9 (S9 / S9i / S9j)?

The exact Antminer S9 Zynq/XIL lane runs stock, BraiinsOS+ and VNish; LuxOS does not target it. DCENT_OS publishes guarded signed sysupgrade and SD artifacts for that exact lane, with accepted-share bench evidence but an incomplete witnessed install/boot/soak/recovery capstone. S9i and S9j do not inherit this artifact.

Which firmware can I flash on an Antminer S19 / S19 Pro?

Antminer S19 and S19 Pro are both RELEASED / EXPERIMENTAL in DCENT_OS. No verified prebuilt is listed for either model in the current ledger: S19 has no exact published install-matrix route and S19 Pro remains lab-only. That binary/install boundary does not change their release status. Confirm the exact board before any write.

Which firmware runs on an Antminer S19j Pro?

Antminer S19j Pro is RELEASED / EXPERIMENTAL. The verified-prebuilt ledger contains a file only for its exact Zynq/XIL lane, and vendor-stock first install remains unproven. BeagleBone, Amlogic, CVitek and STM32MP15 are separate lanes that do not inherit that file.

Which firmware can I run on an Antminer S21, S21 Pro or S21 XP?

Antminer S21, S21 Pro and S21 XP are all RELEASED / EXPERIMENTAL. No verified prebuilt is listed for them in the current ledger. S21 retains historical accepted-share evidence, S21 Pro is lab-only, and S21 XP installation is denied. These exact lanes do not inherit evidence from one another.

Which firmware supports WhatsMiner (MicroBT) models?

WhatsMiner M2x–M6x models run MicroBT stock, and VNish supports the M20 through M60 series (newest M70 coverage is partial). BraiinsOS+ and LuxOS are Antminer / SHA-256 S-line only and do not support WhatsMiner. DCENT_OS does not target WhatsMiner.

Is DCENT_OS available for my miner yet?

All 13 registry models are AVAILABILITY: RELEASED and MATURITY: EXPERIMENTAL: S9, S9 SE, T17, S17, T17+, S17+, S19, S19 Pro, S19j Pro, S19k Pro, S21, S21 XP, S21 Pro. The verified-prebuilt ledger currently contains files for exact S9 XIL and S19j Pro XIL lanes. Binary, board, installation and recovery limits remain model-specific.

Can I flash BraiinsOS+, VNish or LuxOS on an Antminer S23?

Not confirmed yet. The S23 ships on Bitmain stock firmware, but no public teardown has confirmed its control-board family and no third-party firmware support has been verified. Treat any S23 firmware-availability claim as unverified until a teardown lands.

Can I run BraiinsOS+, VNish or LuxOS on a Canaan Avalon (Nano 3, Nano 3S, Mini 3, Avalon Q)?

No aftermarket vendor supports Canaan's K230 home line — BraiinsOS+, VNish, LuxOS and ePIC list no Avalon at all, and Hiveon's list stops at legacy industrial rigs (up to the A1246), never the Nano, Mini or Q. What exists instead is an emerging open-source and community scene around the K230 home line (the orca.pet Nano 3 jailbreak, the free Kratos firmware for the Avalon Mini 3), and DCENT_OS for Avalon is in development — no public image and no install route yet. Stock updates come signed from Canaan's firmware portal (SWUpdate .swu, RSA-verified).

Support flags are factual, not endorsements. DCENT_OS releases all 13 registry models on the Experimental channel. The verified-prebuilt ledger currently contains files for exact S9 XIL and S19j Pro XIL lanes; every other evidence axis remains model-specific. DCENT_OS beta status & downloads →
