Meshtastic LoRa Regions & Channel Presets (Canada / US Region, ISED RSS-247)
Frequency ranges, power caps and modem presets for every Meshtastic LoRa region, with the Canadian ISED RSS-247 framing.
Quick answer
Meshtastic defines 18 LoRa regions and 10 modem presets. In Canada you use the US region (902–928 MHz); licence-exempt operation there is governed by ISED RSS-247. This dataset lists each region's frequency range, default power cap, slot count and duty cycle, plus every preset's spreading factor, bandwidth and data rate.
Pick LongFast (the default) for general use; faster presets trade range for throughput. Region power caps shown are Meshtastic defaults, not device EIRP. Free CSV/JSON under CC BY 4.0.

Modem Presets
| Preset | SF | Coding | Bandwidth | Data rate | Range / airtime |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short Turbo | 7 | 4/5 | 500 kHz | 21,880 bps | Fastest / shortest range (baseline ~1x airtime, fastest throughput) |
| Short Fast | 7 | 4/5 | 250 kHz | 10,940 bps | Very fast / short range |
| Short Slow | 8 | 4/5 | 250 kHz | 6,250 bps | Fast / short-medium range |
| Medium Fast | 9 | 4/5 | 250 kHz | 3,520 bps | Medium speed / medium range |
| Medium Slow | 10 | 4/5 | 250 kHz | 1,950 bps | Medium-slow / medium-long range |
| Long Fast (default) | 11 | 4/5 | 250 kHz | 1,070 bps | Default preset; balanced range vs. airtime (longer airtime per packet than the Short/Medium presets) |
| Long Turbo | 11 | 4/8 | 500 kHz | 1,340 bps | Long range with wider 500 kHz bandwidth (not legal in all regions) |
| Long Moderate | 11 | 4/8 | 125 kHz | 340 bps | Long range / high airtime per packet |
| Long Slow (deprecated) | 12 | 4/8 | 125 kHz | 180 bps | Longest range / longest airtime per packet (highest channel-utilization cost) |
| Very Long Slow (removed/deprecated) | — | — | — | — | Historically the slowest / longest-range preset |
Canada: Meshtastic Canadian nodes use the US region (902–928 MHz ISM). Licence-exempt digital/frequency-hopping operation is governed by ISED RSS-247. The power figures above are Meshtastic region defaults, not device EIRP — verify your hardware's certified output before deploying. Source data: meshtastic.org.
