Antminer S19j Pro Firmware: Stock, Braiins OS+, VNish & LuxOS by Control Board
The Antminer S19j Pro is the clearest case in Bitmain’s whole catalogue of one model name wearing several different control boards — Xilinx Zynq, BeagleBone, Amlogic and CVitek all shipped under the same sticker — and which firmware you can run, and how it gets installed, is decided by that board and by the date on your stock firmware, not by the model number on the case. Almost every page ranking for “S19j Pro firmware” today is either a vendor selling its own build or a distributor hosting downloads. This page is neither: it is the decision layer — every real firmware option including stock, matched to the board it supports, with the March 2024 install lock and the noPIC image split explained before you flash anything. We host no third-party firmware here and sell none; D-Central repairs this hardware in Montreal, and this is the page we would want a customer to have read first. The S19j Pro, firmware-wise: what is actually under the hood
The S19j Pro runs the BM1362 ASIC (TSMC 5 nm) — a different chip from the S19 and S19 Pro’s BM1398, and from the S19 XP and S19k Pro’s BM1366. Our hardware reference records the standard S19j Pro layout as 126 chips per chain across three chains — 378 chips, at 525 MHz on the BHB42601 hashboard, for a 104 TH/s nameplate at roughly 3,068 W. Those are our corpus figures cross-referenced against the stock firmware’s own tables, not a Bitmain datasheet. We do not publish a stock voltage figure for this model: our own sources disagree on whether the BM1362 rail is addressed per domain or as a direct chip Vdd, and an unresolved number is worse than no number when someone is about to flash.

Step zero: identify your control board — four boards, one model name
This is the fact most download pages never mention, and on this model it is not a footnote — it is the whole decision. Bitmain shipped the S19j Pro on four control-board families. Three independent sources agree, which is rare enough to be worth naming:
- Luxor’s own compatibility table lists the S19j Pro under “Xilinx, BeagleBone, AMLogic, *CVITEK” (re-checked August 2026).
- Bitmain’s own 2022 stock release shipped the same recovery set twice, once per board: our mirror holds Antminer-S19j-Pro-Release-sd2nand-BBCtrl-20210622.zip and Antminer-S19j-Pro-Release-sd2nand-zynq7007-20210515.zip. Two archives, one model, two boards — the fork is visible in the vendor’s own filenames.
- D-Central’s own firmware research records the same four variants (Zynq am2, Amlogic A113D, CVitek CV183x, BBCtrl AM335x) from a stock BMU teardown.
So before reading the options matrix: run the control-board identifier — under a minute, works even with a dead board. Everything below is keyed to its answer. For the board internals themselves, see the ASIC control board reference.
The noPIC split: two S19j Pros that look identical and take different images
Some S19-generation units shipped without the dsPIC voltage-controller MCU path — the community and the vendors call these noPIC units. On the S19j Pro this is not trivia, and it is not a rumour: Braiins publishes “S19J Pro (noPIC)” as a separate image from the regular S19j Pro image on its official download page, alongside “S19J (noPIC)” and “S19J Pro Plus (NoPIC)” (Verified, checked August 2026). A vendor does not maintain parallel builds for one hardware configuration.
Braiins goes one step further on this model than on any other in the S19 line: it also lists “S19J Pro (noPIC) 126 chips” as its own image. That is a build selected by chip count, on top of a build selected by voltage-control hardware — on a single model name. Read that as the strongest available signal that “S19j Pro” describes a family, not a machine, and that picking the image by model name alone is how units get mis-flashed.
Repair relevance, from the bench: two outwardly identical S19j Pros can differ in voltage-control hardware and in chips per chain. If a unit misbehaves immediately after a reflash, the first three questions are which control board it is on, which side of the noPIC split it is on, and how many chips per chain it actually has. If you cannot answer all three, stop flashing and establish them first.
The firmware options
Dev-fee figures below are each vendor’s own published number, checked August 2026 — ranges are printed as ranges, not flattened, and a pool fee is never presented as a dev fee.

DCENT_OS on the S19j Pro, board by board. D-Central’s own firmware is the only fully open-source option here — GPL-3.0 end to end, where Braiins OS+’s mining binary is closed and VNish and LuxOS are closed — and it is in public beta. Its public tree registers five separate board targets for this one model, in two capability tiers. On Xilinx Zynq (am2-s19j) and BeagleBone (am3-bb-s19jpro) it runs a real serial work engine. On Amlogic (am3-s19jpro-aml), CVitek CV1835 (cv1835-s19jpro) and the BCB100 / STM32MP15 board (bcb100-s19jpro) it is management-only — the hash boards are not energised. And on none of the five is first install from a non-DCENT_OS source open to the public today: exactly one board target in the whole tree carries that flag, and it is the Antminer S9. Treat DCENT_OS on an S19j Pro as something you build the daemon for on a bench unit, not something you flash on a producing machine. The DCENT_OS S19j Pro page has the current state.
One consumer-protection note that belongs on every firmware page: VNish’s own FAQ warns that “free / no-devfee” builds of its firmware circulating on lookalike domains are fake and may carry hidden fees — that is the vendor’s warning, and it generalises. The March 2024 lock: check your stock firmware date before planning anything
The single most consequential fact on this page, and the one that decides whether you are looking at an afternoon or a support ticket:
- Verified, from Luxor’s compatibility docs (re-checked August 2026): “Remote Install is required for: Machines with CVITEK control boards” and for any machine running “Bitmain Firmware dated March 2024 or newer.” If your S19j Pro is CVitek-boarded, or its stock firmware is March 2024 or newer, LuxOS goes on via Luxor support, not via a file you upload.
- Supported, from third-party-vendor installation notes: starting around March 2024, Bitmain shipped Amlogic control boards with firmware locks that block third-party firmware installation outright. Braiins maintains an Amlogic remote-installation guide for exactly this case. Reportedly, stock firmware released after September 2025 additionally locks the SD-card downgrade path and disables the micro-USB port on affected boards. Bitmain itself does not publish these lock dates; the record is assembled from the vendors who have to work around them — which is why every claim in this bullet is labelled Supported, not Verified.
The S19j Pro sits on both sides of this line, which is unusual. A 2021–2022 Zynq or BeagleBone unit that has never been updated is one of the most open machines in the fleet. The same model on an Amlogic board with recent stock firmware is one of the most closed. Read the stock firmware date off the dashboard before you plan anything. Scope note: each vendor documents its own procedure, and the vendor’s document outranks this page for the vendor’s image. This page tells you which doors exist for your board — it does not pretend to be four vendors’ manuals. What we hold, and what we do not
D-Central keeps an archive of older images and manufacturer service documents for bench work. It is a mirror, not an official channel, it is excluded from search indexes, and it exists because this hardware outlives its vendor download pages. Every file in it has a published SHA-256 and an honest provenance record — including Source: Unknown on 107 of the 112 files, because we could not establish where they came from and saying so is the point. What we can establish is what each file attests about itself, read from inside the file.

When it stops being a firmware question
A chain that died mid-flash, a board that boots nothing, an S19j Pro that hashes on two chains no matter what image it runs — that is not a firmware decision anymore, it is a bench job. Which firmware can I run on an Antminer S19j Pro?
Four real options: Bitmain stock (the legitimate default), Braiins OS+ (which publishes the deepest per-variant image set of any vendor on this model, including separate noPIC and 126-chip builds), LuxOS (Xilinx, BeagleBone, AMLogic and CVITEK per Luxor’s own compatibility table), and VNish (whose published model menu names the S19 generation without calling out the j sub-variants — confirm your exact SKU with the vendor). D-Central’s own DCENT_OS runs on this model on Xilinx and BeagleBone boards but is public beta and is not offered as a first install from a non-DCENT_OS source. Which of these you can actually install depends on your control board and your stock firmware date — identify the board first.
Why does the S19j Pro have four different control boards?
Because Bitmain sourced whatever silicon it could through the 2021–2022 supply crunch and shipped the same machine on Xilinx Zynq, BeagleBone, Amlogic and CVitek control boards. Luxor’s compatibility table lists all four for this model, Bitmain itself released the recovery set twice under board-specific filenames, and a stock BMU teardown records the same four. The consequence is the whole point of this page: firmware support is a property of the control board, not of the model name on the case.
What does noPIC mean on an S19j Pro?
Some units shipped without the dsPIC voltage-controller MCU path. Braiins publishes “S19J Pro (noPIC)” as a separate image from the standard one on its official download page, plus a distinct “S19J Pro (noPIC) 126 chips” build. Two image lines exist because the hardware differs — operate on the assumption that they are not interchangeable, and establish which variant you own before flashing either.
Why won’t my S19j Pro accept third-party firmware?
Almost always the install lock or the board. Luxor’s own docs require remote installation for any machine on Bitmain firmware dated March 2024 or newer, and for every CVITEK-boarded unit regardless of date. Amlogic boards shipped from around March 2024 carry locks that block third-party installation outright. Check the stock firmware date on your dashboard: if it is March 2024 or newer, the route is a downgrade-first path where one still exists, or the firmware vendor’s remote-install or unlock service.
Does D-Central host S19j Pro firmware downloads?
