Antminer S19 XP Firmware: Stock, Braiins OS+, VNish & LuxOS by Control Board

The Antminer S19 XP is one model name wearing at least three different control boards — Amlogic, CVitek and Xilinx Zynq — and which firmware you can actually run, and how it gets installed, is decided by that board and by the date on your stock firmware, not by the sticker on the case. Almost every page ranking for “S19 XP firmware” today is either a vendor selling its own build or a distributor hosting downloads. This page is neither: it is the decision layer — every real firmware option (stock included), matched to the board it supports, with the March 2024 install lock and the noPIC image split explained before you flash anything. The S19 XP, firmware-wise: what is actually under the hood

The S19 XP runs the BM1366 ASIC (TSMC 5 nm) — the same die generation as the S19k Pro, and a different chip from both the S19 Pro’s BM1398 and the S19j family’s BM1362. Our model corpus puts the air-cooled layout at 110 chips per chain, three chains per unit; Bitmain publishes no per-board chip-count spec sheet we could locate, so treat that as our corpus figure, not a Bitmain datasheet number. Nameplate rating is 140 TH/s at roughly 3,010 W (≈21.5 J/TH). We do not publish stock frequency or voltage figures for this model — they are not reliably documented, and inventing them is how bad flashing guides get written. Per Luxor’s compatibility docs, air-cooled S19 XP hashboards carry SKUs BHB56801 and BHB56802.

Step zero: identify your control board — one model name, several boards

Every firmware decision on this model starts with a fact most download pages never mention: Bitmain shipped the S19 XP on multiple control-board families. Our model corpus and vendor compatibility pages agree on three — Amlogic (the canonical fit), CVitek CV1835, and Xilinx Zynq. Luxor’s compatibility table additionally lists BeagleBone for the S19 XP; our own corpus does not place BeagleBone on the air-cooled XP. We print that divergence rather than resolve it — and either way, the board in your hands outranks every table, ours included.

So before reading the options matrix: run the control-board identifier — under a minute, works even with a dead board. Everything below is keyed to its answer.

The noPIC split: two S19 XPs that look identical and take different images

Some S19 XP units shipped without the dsPIC voltage-controller MCU path — the community and vendors call these noPIC units. This is not trivia: Braiins publishes “S19 XP (noPIC)” as a separate image from the regular S19 XP image on its official download page (Verified, checked August 2026). A vendor does not maintain two builds for one hardware configuration; the split exists because the voltage-control hardware differs, so an image built for the other side of the split is a mis-flash, not a tuning choice (that consequence is our inference from the separate builds — stated as such, and it is the conservative assumption to operate under).

Repair relevance, from the bench: two outwardly identical XPs can differ in voltage-control hardware. If a unit misbehaves right after a reflash, the first two questions are which side of the noPIC split it is on and which image it received. If you cannot answer both, stop flashing and establish them first.

The firmware options

One consumer-protection note that belongs on every firmware page: VNish’s own FAQ warns that “free / no-devfee” builds of its firmware circulating on lookalike domains are fake and may carry hidden fees — that is the vendor’s warning, and it generalizes. The March 2024 lock: check your stock firmware date before planning anything

The single most consequential fact on this page. Two independent things changed in 2024–2025, and both are dated by the firmware vendors rather than by Bitmain:

  • Verified, from Luxor’s compatibility docs (re-checked August 2026): “Remote Install is required for: Machines with CVITEK control boards” and for machines running “Bitmain Firmware dated March 2024 or newer.” That is LuxOS’s own installation policy, stated on its own page — if your XP is CVitek-boarded, or your stock firmware is March 2024 or newer, LuxOS goes on via Luxor support, not via a file you upload.
  • Supported, from third-party-vendor installation notes: starting around March 2024, Bitmain shipped Amlogic control boards with firmware locks that block third-party firmware installation outright. Braiins maintains an Amlogic remote-installation guide for exactly this case, and aftermarket unlocking kits exist (Altair Technology sells one). Reportedly, stock firmware released after September 2025 additionally locks the SD-card downgrade path and disables the micro-USB port on affected boards. Bitmain itself does not publish these lock dates; the record is assembled from the vendors who have to work around them — which is why every claim in this bullet is labeled Supported, not Verified.

The practical rule, in one line: read the stock firmware date off the dashboard before you plan anything. Pre-March-2024 stock: the direct install paths are generally open. March 2024 or newer: plan on downgrade-first where the downgrade path still exists, or on the vendor’s remote-install/unlock route — and budget the time for it. CVitek CV1835 No SD-card boot rail exists on this board — its BootROM is eMMC-first, so an SD-card install is structurally impossible, not merely unsupported (per our control-board research; see the control board reference). This is why LuxOS routes every CVITEK unit through remote installation.

When it stops being a firmware question

A chain that died mid-flash, a board that boots nothing, an XP that hashes on two chains no matter what image it runs — that is not a firmware decision anymore, it is a bench job. Which firmware can I run on an Antminer S19 XP?

Five real options: Bitmain stock (the legitimate default), Braiins OS+ (with distinct images for the noPIC and hydro variants), VNish (Amlogic/CVitek/Xilinx platform images), and LuxOS (Xilinx, BeagleBone, AMLogic and CVITEK boards per Luxor’s compatibility table). Hiveon does not list the S19 XP in its published support table. Which of these you can actually install depends on your control board and your stock firmware date — identify the board first.

What does noPIC mean on Braiins OS+ S19 XP images?

Some S19 XP units shipped without the dsPIC voltage-controller MCU path, and Braiins publishes a separate “S19 XP (noPIC)” image for them on its official download page. The two image lines exist because the voltage-control hardware differs — operate on the assumption that they are not interchangeable, and establish which variant you own before flashing either.

Why won’t my S19 XP accept third-party firmware?

Almost always the install lock: Amlogic control boards shipped from around March 2024 carry firmware locks that block third-party installation, and Luxor’s own docs require remote installation for any machine on Bitmain firmware dated March 2024 or newer — CVitek-boarded units are remote-install regardless of date. Check the stock firmware date on your dashboard; if it is March 2024 or newer, the fix is a downgrade-first path where one still exists, or the firmware vendor’s remote-install/unlock route.

What ASIC chip does the Antminer S19 XP use?

The BM1366, TSMC 5 nm — the same generation as the S19k Pro, and not the BM1398 (S19 Pro) or BM1362 (S19j family). Our model corpus records 110 chips per chain across three chains for the air-cooled unit; Bitmain publishes no per-board chip-count datasheet we could locate.

Does D-Central host S19 XP firmware downloads?

Not from this page — this is a decision page, not a download menu. D-Central does keep an archive of older images and manufacturer service documents for bench work, with a published SHA-256 for every file and an honest Source: Unknown where we cannot establish where a file came from; it is a mirror, not an official channel, and it is excluded from search indexes. Third-party Antminer firmware should come from the vendor’s own channel (Braiins, VNish and Luxor each publish theirs, and Bitmain’s stock comes from its own portal) and should be verified after download; hosting other vendors’ binaries is how the mirror-site mess this page warns about got started.
