Antminer S19 / S21 tuned silencer v2 — dual 120 mm to 6-inch duct
The v2 tuned silencer shroud takes the expansion chamber of the original dual 120 mm body and adds a quarter-wave side branch aimed at the part of the noise people actually complain about: the whine. A miner exhaust is not one sound. There is broadband rush from air moving fast, and riding on top of it a tone at the blade-pass region — the rate at which fan blades sweep past a fixed point. The ear locks onto that tone, and it is what turns a machine from loud into annoying two floors away.
A chamber treats the spectrum broadly. A side branch is the surgical instrument: a closed stub, cut to a quarter of the wavelength you are targeting, hung off the main passage. Sound runs down it, reflects off the closed end, returns half a wavelength behind itself and cancels. A textbook side-branch resonator, drawn into this body as one printed piece with nothing in the airstream to shed. The stub is cut to a quarter of the wavelength at a nominal 750 Hz design target, the blade-pass region for a 120 mm fan pair of this class, and the branch walls are held at 2.15 mm minimum so the resonator stays sealed.
What it fits
The same intake as the v1: the rear 120 mm fan pair on the Antminer S19 series and the standard Antminer S21, on the stock fan screws, out to a standard 6-inch collar. It is drop-in against the v1 connection for connection, so an existing 6-inch run does not change. The body is bigger — 250 × 242.2 × 218.6 mm — because the branch has to live somewhere.
Not for the S21 Pro or S21 XP with their 140 mm fans; those take the S21 Pro dual 140 mm shroud. The same buying advice applies here as everywhere in this range: acoustic bodies are larger than plain shrouds and they spend part of the airflow budget. On a machine running hot, or a duct route already long and full of bends, the plain dual 120 mm to 6" duct shroud is the part to buy.
How it installs
- Fit the body over the rear fan pair on the stock fan screws, exactly as a v1 goes on.
- Clamp 6-inch duct to the collar, or fit a threaded duct receiver to unscrew the duct without tools.
- Carry on with the run you already have — nothing downstream of the collar changes.
The branch is internal to the body, so there is nothing extra to mount, tune or maintain. What it needs is clearance: this body stands taller than the v1.
Why a tuned side branch beats a bigger chamber
Making a chamber bigger widens the band it works on, but it also makes the part bigger and takes more out of the airflow budget. A quarter-wave branch buys depth at a chosen frequency instead of width across all of them, using a dead-end volume hanging off the passage rather than an obstruction sitting in it. The main flow path is unchanged; the tuned element is a pocket the air never travels through.
Most of this niche sells lined boxes packed with foam. Absorptive media works at the top of the range, and it also compresses, embrittles in hot exhaust and eventually sheds into the air crossing your hashboards. This body has no lining: chamber and branch are shapes cut into one continuous PETG shell, which holds its geometry in ASIC exhaust heat where PLA would soften and pull the collar out of round.

Open source — print it yourself, or buy it finished
A tuned resonator is the kind of thing most shops would keep to themselves. D-Central publishes it. The v2 geometry is released open source under CC BY-SA 4.0 through the 3D models download center — download it, retune the branch for your own fan speed, print it, sell it. Acoustics is old, well-documented engineering; the only thing worth owning is the willingness to draw it properly.
D-Central Technologies designed this resonator and cut the stub length, then open-sourced the whole thing — published because we would rather it existed everywhere than be ours alone. This listing is the finished body, made to order in PETG and shipped from Montreal, Quebec, printed to the same collar tolerance as the rest of the system, in black or orange. Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a quarter-wave side branch?
A closed stub hanging off the main passage, cut to one quarter of the wavelength you are aiming at. Sound enters it, reflects off the closed end and rejoins the flow half a wavelength later, out of phase with itself, so the two cancel around that frequency. Standard practice in exhaust and HVAC acoustics. What is unusual here is executing it as one printed piece with no packing inside.
v1 or v2 — which should I buy?
Decide by the sound that bothers you and the space you have. If it is the general rush of air, the v1 expansion chamber is the broad treatment in the flattest body we make. If it is the whine that carries through a floor, the v2 adds an element tuned at that tone. The v2 is taller, so clearance decides it as often as acoustics do.
Does the side branch cost more airflow than the v1?
The branch is a dead-end pocket beside the passage, not a restriction inside it, so the main flow path keeps the shape it had on the v1. What changes is the size of the object: the envelope goes from the v1’s 250 × 211.2 × 152.4 mm to 250 × 242.2 × 218.6 mm. In airflow terms the branch is the cheap part of this design; in shelf space it is not.
Will it fit where my v1 fits?
The connections are drop-in — same fan pair, same screw positions, same 6-inch collar — but the envelope is 250 × 242.2 × 218.6 mm. Compare that against the clear space behind and above the machine. In a tight rack the v1 or the plain 6-inch shroud is the one that goes in.
Is it tuned for my particular fan?
