Overview
The Whatsminer answer to the same problem. A 140 mm fan face on the intake, a reactive expansion chamber in the middle, an 8-inch duct collar on the way out — sized so the acoustic chamber does not become the airflow bottleneck on a machine that moves as much air as an M-series does.
What it fits
Dimensioned to the Whatsminer M-series 140 mm fan flange shared across the M20, M30, M50 and M60 generations. The 8-inch outlet is deliberate: on a chamber design, the outlet needs headroom to keep the pressure penalty reasonable.
Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and the clearance around your machine against the footprint in the specifications below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.
How it is used
Fits the exhaust fan, takes 8-inch duct on the outlet. It is a large part — check the clearance behind the machine, and be aware that it adds meaningful depth compared with the plain 140 mm shroud.
Why it helps
Whatsminers are loud in a way that carries. An expansion chamber reflects part of the sound energy back rather than letting all of it ride the air column down the duct and out into the neighbourhood. The mechanism is geometric, so there is nothing to service and nothing to wear out. We publish no decibel figures because we have not measured this design — expect modest, not miraculous.

Every shroud D-Central designs is released as an open file. The geometry for this part is free to download from our 3D models download center: use it, modify it, remix it, run it in your own shop, sell what you make from it. There is no licence to buy and no design gated behind a purchase. Shared knowledge is the whole reason this industry has open hardware at all, and we are not going to be the ones who stop passing it on.

Frequently asked questions
Will this make my Whatsminer quiet?
It will not make it quiet. A machine like that is loud at a level printed plastic does not solve on its own. It should help, by a modest amount we have not measured and will not invent. Real noise control on a Whatsminer means a combination of ducting, distance, enclosure and placement — this part is one piece of that.
Why is the outlet 8-inch and not 6?
Because an expansion chamber already costs you pressure, and a 140 mm fan already moves a lot of air. Pairing a chamber with a 6-inch outlet would stack two restrictions on a machine that cannot afford it.
How much airflow does it cost?
Unmeasured, but real. Any chamber in the path is a restriction. If your machine is already thermally marginal or your duct run is long, use the plain 8-inch shroud instead and address noise by placement.
