Description

Overview

The 8-inch termination. Same flanged through-panel design as the 6-inch port, scaled to the trunk size that a hard-working machine or a shared exhaust line actually needs.

What it fits

Standard 8-inch duct on the inside, flanged face for through-panel mounting on the outside. Sized to terminate an 8-inch trunk without a reduction, so the run keeps its full cross-section right to the wall.

Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and the clearance around your machine against the footprint in the specifications below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.

How it is used

Mount through a window filler panel or a permanent wall penetration and clamp the trunk to the inside collar. If you have been running 8-inch the whole way, this is what lets you avoid throwing that away with a reducer at the very last fitting.

Why it helps

It is a common and self-defeating mistake to run a generous 8-inch trunk and then terminate it through a 6-inch or 4-inch hole because that was the fitting available. The restriction at the end of the run affects the whole system just as much as one at the start. Terminating at full size keeps the airflow you designed for.

  • Terminates an 8-inch trunk at full cross-section — no last-fitting reduction
  • Flanged face for through-panel mounting
  • Works as an intake port as well as an exhaust
  • Single continuous body, no assembly

Open source — print it yourself, or buy it finished

Every shroud D-Central designs is released as an open file. The geometry for this part is free to download from our 3D models download center: use it, modify it, remix it, run it in your own shop, sell what you make from it. There is no licence to buy and no design gated behind a purchase. Shared knowledge is the whole reason this industry has open hardware at all, and we are not going to be the ones who stop passing it on.

This listing is for the finished part: made to order in PETG and shipped from Montreal, Quebec. If you would rather have it in your hands than spend an evening making one, buy it here — that is what pays for the next design in the line. You can also support the open-source work directly through D-Central’s fund page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need 8-inch at the window if my machine is 6-inch?

No — match the port to the trunk. If your run is 6-inch, the 6″ port is the right part. This one is for runs that are 8-inch all the way.

How do I stop backdraft in winter?

A damper in the line. Our print-in-place blast gate is in development for this. In the meantime a commercial backdraft damper in the run works fine.

Can I mount it in a wall instead of a window?

Yes. The flange is designed for through-panel mounting, and a wall penetration is just a more permanent panel. Seal around it appropriately for your climate.
