The 8-inch gentle turn. On a trunk line carrying real airflow, the difference between gentle and sharp bends stops being academic — this is the fitting to reach for first whenever the run has to change direction.

What it fits

Standard 8-inch collars on both ends, matching every 8-inch shroud, silencer, coupler and port in the line. Works with flexible or rigid duct.

Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and the clearance around your machine against the footprint in the specifications below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.

How it is used

Change direction with one. Make a right angle with two and a short straight between them. Chain them for gradual routing around obstacles rather than forcing the run into a series of hard corners.

Why it helps

An 8-inch trunk exists because you wanted to move a lot of air with minimal restriction. Putting sharp corners in it undoes that decision. Every gentle turn you substitute for a sharp one gives the fan back some of the pressure it needs to actually push the air out of the building.

Frequently asked questions

Why do you recommend 45s over 90s?

Because bend loss rises steeply as the turn tightens. Two 45s in series turn the same corner with materially less resistance than one sharp 90. Space permitting, it is the better build every time.

Do I need a clamp at every joint?

On an 8-inch run, yes. The duct is heavy enough and the airflow strong enough that friction alone will not hold a joint indefinitely.

What if I have no room for two 45s?

Then use the compact 8″ 90° elbow. A compact 90 that fits is better than an elegant pair of 45s that does not.
