Canaan Avalon A15 shroud with a 200 mm metric duct collar

This is the Canaan Avalon A15 shroud for Avalon ducting. The ducting supplied in the Avalon kit is 200 mm metric, and 200 mm is not 8 inches: eight inches is 203.2 mm. Three millimetres is the difference between a clamped joint and a lap of foil tape, so a collar cut at 200 mm mates with what Canaan already put in the box.

The fan side is the dedicated Avalon geometry: two 120 mm fans stacked vertically on a 122.0 mm pitch, 105.0 mm screw square, 116.0 mm bore per fan, merged inside the body and converged into a single 200 mm outlet.

The rest of the world builds ventilation in metric: inline fans, hose, wall grilles and filter housings come in 150, 160 and 200 mm, and 200 mm is the top of that ladder.

What it fits: the Canaan Avalon A15 on 200 mm metric duct

The Canaan Avalon A15 and the archived A15XP CAD-derived interface, with two vertically stacked 120 mm exhaust fans on a 122.0 mm pitch, exhausting into 200 mm metric duct, including the ducting that ships with the Avalon kit and 200 mm class inline duct fans.

On imperial fittings, take the 8-inch Canaan Avalon shroud (203.2 mm) or the 6-inch Canaan Avalon shroud (152.4 mm). For an Antminer, the same collar sits on the dual 120 mm to 200 mm metric shroud.

How it installs

1. Set the flange over both stacked exhaust fans, on the fan screw pattern.
2. Fix it with the Avalon’s own large-head fan screws through the 5.0 mm holes and 5.424 mm slots, or your own screws with a 9 mm or larger flat washer under each head.
3. Slide 200 mm metric duct over the collar, past the 200.0 mm crest.
4. Clamp on the 198.0 mm sealing land.
5. Continue the run: 200 mm inline fan, plenum, or your existing Avalon kit ducting.

Why a metric collar, cut properly

Metric duct is not an inch size with a rounded label. A 200 mm hose is genuinely 200 mm, and it will not seat on a 203.2 mm collar without being stretched, nor will it grip a collar that is too small without tape doing the structural work. This collar is drawn metric from the start: the crest sits at duct nominal, and the sealing land 2.0 mm below it, at the tighter end of the male hardware a 200 mm duct slides onto. The duct goes over the crest, a clamp closes onto the land, and the crest is what stops it walking off.

• Mates with the 200 mm ducting supplied in the Avalon kit, with nothing to adapt.
• Cut metric from scratch: 200.0 mm crest, 198.0 mm sealing land, no inch collar pretending.
• Holds the Avalon-specific stacked geometry: 122.0 mm fan pitch, 105.0 mm screw square.
• Opens the exhaust to the largest size in the metric line, so the shroud is never the restriction.
• Keeps at least 8.6 mm of driver clearance around every fan screw head.

Open source, because metric buyers get ignored

Almost nobody sells an ASIC shroud in metric sizes, which is a strange gap given how much of the world buys ventilation in millimetres.
