Canaan Avalon A15 shroud: both stacked 120 mm fans into one 6-inch duct
A Canaan Avalon A15 shroud has to solve a problem no Antminer part solves. The Avalon exhausts through two 120 mm fans stacked one above the other, on a 122.0 mm pitch rather than the 120.0 mm pitch every dual-120 Antminer shroud is cut to, and a millimetre per side is more than a mounting slot absorbs. So this shroud is drawn to the A15 exhaust face, 122.0 mm vertical fan pitch and 105.0 mm screw square, and it gathers both fan columns into one 6-inch duct collar.
Six inches is the duct size you can buy in any hardware store on this continent: flexible hose, dryer-vent fittings, inline duct fans, window kits, rigid pipe. That replaceability is worth building a run around. The body is one piece of PETG, which holds its shape in exhaust heat.
What it fits: the Canaan Avalon A15
This is cut for the Canaan Avalon A15 and the archived A15XP CAD-derived interface, and for nothing else in the Avalon range: two vertically stacked 120 mm exhaust fans, 122.0 mm pitch, 116.0 mm bore per fan with a 2.0 mm sealing land around each. The flange mounts on the machine’s own fan screw pattern, and the collar takes 6-inch flex duct.
It is not the part for an Antminer, which sits on a 120.0 mm pitch and wants the Antminer S19 / S21 dual 120 mm to 6-inch duct shroud. On metric ducting, including the 200 mm ducting supplied in the Avalon kit, take the 200 mm Canaan Avalon shroud; for a long or shared run, the 8-inch Canaan Avalon shroud.
How it installs
- Sit the flange over both stacked exhaust fans and line it up on the fan screw pattern.
- Drive the screws through the 5.0 mm flange holes (5.424 mm slots), using the Avalon’s own large-head fan screws or a 9 mm or larger flat washer under your own.
- Slide 6-inch flex duct over the collar, past the 152.4 mm retention bead.
- Land a worm clamp on the 150.4 mm sealing land behind the bead.
- Run the duct to a window port, a plenum or the room you want warm.
Why the shape matters
A flat plate with a hole in it is not a shroud. Two fan columns leaving a stacked face are two separate jets, and dropped straight into a round pipe they fight each other in the first 100 mm of duct. This body merges them before the transition begins, then converges what is left into the collar as one stream. The collar is flex-over rather than slip-in, which is the difference between a joint that is clamped and a joint that is taped.

- Clamps instead of tapes: 152.4 mm bead, 150.4 mm sealing land, plain worm clamp.
- Keeps at least 8.4 mm of driver clearance around every fan screw head.
- Lands on 6-inch, the most widely stocked duct size in North America.

Which Canaan Avalon models does this fit?
The Canaan Avalon A15, and the archived A15XP whose CAD-derived interface this was drawn against. Both exhaust through two 120 mm fans stacked vertically on a 122.0 mm pitch with a 105.0 mm screw square. Other Avalon families are a different exhaust face and are not claimed here — the 122.0 mm pitch is 1.0 mm per side away from the Antminer 120.0 mm pattern, which is more than a mounting slot absorbs, and the same logic cuts the other way across Avalon generations.
The A15 fans are stacked vertically. Which way does the duct leave?
Straight back, in line with the fans. The body gathers both stacked columns onto a single collar on the same axis, so the duct leaves behind the machine rather than turning at the flange. If the run has to turn immediately, do it in duct with a 6-inch 90° elbow.
6-inch or 8-inch for one machine?
Six inches is the right call for a short run out a nearby window or into the next room, and it is the cheapest ecosystem to buy fittings in. Go to the 8-inch version when the duct is long, has bends in it, or is shared with another machine, so the pipe is not the tightest thing in the system.
Will it fit a Canaan Avalon Q?
No. The Q is a different chassis with a different exhaust face, so this flange is not the part for it. What the Q does share is ducting size: its ducting runs 200 mm, so if you are building around Q hardware the collar you want is on the 200 mm metric version.
Do I need washers, or will the stock fan screws do?
The stock Avalon fan screws have large heads and work as they are. If you are using your own hardware, put a 9 mm or larger flat washer under each head: the flange holes are 5.0 mm with 5.424 mm slots, and the washer spreads the clamping load across the flange face instead of concentrating it on the edge of one slot.
