Description

Overview

Canaan’s Avalon A13xx, A14xx and 15XP families exhaust through two vertically stacked 120 mm fans — and their 122.0 mm fan pitch is not the 120.0 mm used by Antminer-style dual-120 fan faces. That single millimetre per side is more than the mounting-slot slack can absorb, so the Avalon gets its own dedicated shroud rather than a “close enough” one. This version captures both stacked fans and converges them into one 6-inch flex duct.

It is a single-piece PETG part with a flex-over duct collar: the duct slips over the collar and a clamp lands on the 150.4 mm sealing land behind the 152.4 mm retention bead, so the connection is made with an ordinary duct clamp rather than tape.

What it fits

Canaan Avalon A13xx, A14xx and 15XP miners with two vertically stacked 120 mm exhaust fans on a 122.0 mm pitch. One honest note on that number: the 122.0 mm pitch and 105.0 mm screw square come from a single community CAD lineage — the designer’s intent, not a caliper-verified measurement on a production Avalon.

Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and clearances against the footprint below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.

How it is used

Mount the shroud over the two stacked exhaust fans using the fan screw pattern. The flange holes are 5.0 mm (with 5.424 mm slots); put a 9 mm or larger flat washer under each screw head, or reuse the miner’s own large-head fan screws. Then slip 6-inch flex duct over the collar, clamp it on the sealing land behind the crest, and route the duct to a window port, a plenum, or the space you want to heat.

Why it helps

  • Dedicated Avalon geometry: 122.0 mm stacked-fan pitch, not the 120.0 mm Antminer pattern — a difference the slot slack cannot hide.
  • Single-piece PETG part: no seams, no glue joints, nothing to work loose over months of fan vibration.
  • Flex-over 6-inch collar (crest 152.4 mm, land 150.4 mm): the duct slips over and clamps down, no tape required.
  • Every fan screw stays reachable: minimum measured tool radius 8.4 mm on this part, against a project target of 8.0 mm — all screws rate GOOD.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Avalon need its own shroud?

Because its two stacked fans sit on a 122.0 mm pitch, not the 120.0 mm used by Antminer-style dual-120 fan faces. That is 1.0 mm per side — more than the mounting-slot slack can absorb — so the Avalon gets dedicated geometry. Honest caveat: the 122.0 mm figure comes from one community CAD lineage, not a caliper-verified production machine.

Is the fit guaranteed?

No. None of the interface dimensions in this line have been caliper-verified against production hardware yet. The geometry comes from published fan and chassis data — measure your machine and your duct before ordering, and tell us if anything is off.

Do I need washers?

We recommend them. The flange holes are 5.0 mm (with 5.424 mm slots), so put a 9 mm or larger flat washer under each screw head — or reuse the miner’s own large-head fan screws, which spread the load the same way.
