Overview
Puts a 140 mm fan on a 120 mm mounting. A bigger fan moving the same air spins slower, and a slower fan is a quieter fan — which is the single most effective noise change available to most home miners that does not involve building a box.
What it fits
Mounting holes match the standard 120 mm fan pattern on one face and the standard 140 mm pattern on the other, with a shaped transition between the two apertures rather than a flat plate.
Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and the clearance around your machine against the footprint in the specifications below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.
How it is used
Fit it to the 120 mm fan position on your chassis, mount a 140 mm fan to the outer face, and run the larger fan at a lower speed for the same airflow. It also lets you standardise a mixed fleet onto one shroud size — put adapters on the 120 mm machines and buy only 140 mm shrouds.
Why it helps
Fan noise scales steeply with tip speed. Moving the same volume of air with a larger, slower fan is genuinely quieter in a way that does not cost you cooling, unlike simply turning the stock fan down. It is also cheap. The catch is depth: you are adding the thickness of the adapter plus the new fan, so check your clearance first.

Frequently asked questions
Will a bigger fan actually make it quieter?
It gives you the option to be. A 140 mm fan can move the same air as a 120 mm one at lower RPM, and fan noise rises steeply with speed. You have to actually run it slower to collect the benefit — fitting a big fan and running it flat out just gives you a louder machine.
Do I lose static pressure?
Potentially. Larger, slower fans typically generate less static pressure than smaller, faster ones, and ASIC hashboards are a high-resistance path. If your machine is thermally marginal or your duct run is long, watch chip temperatures after the swap.
Does it fit inside my chassis?
That depends on your machine and how much room is behind the fan position. Measure the depth available before ordering — you are adding the adapter thickness plus the fan thickness.
