Overview

One 6-inch trunk, two 4-inch branches, joined by a shaped wye rather than a tee. Run it forwards to split a single exhaust into two destinations, or backwards to collect two small lines — a miner and its PSU, most commonly — into one run.

What it fits

Standard 6-inch collar on the trunk, two standard 4-inch collars on the branches. The 4-inch size matches our PSU exhaust shroud and the small end of the 6″ to 4″ reducer.

Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and the clearance around your machine against the footprint in the specifications below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.

How it is used

The most common layout is as a collector: the miner exhaust on one 4-inch branch, the PSU exhaust on the other, and a single 6-inch trunk carrying both out of the building. Used forwards, it splits one exhaust between two rooms, or between a room and an outside vent so you can choose where the heat goes.

Why it helps

A wye merges two streams at a shallow angle so they join the trunk moving in roughly the same direction. A tee slams them into each other at a right angle, which costs pressure and makes noise. If you are going to combine two air paths at all, the shape you do it with matters — and doing it properly is what lets one duct run serve a machine and its power supply instead of needing two holes in the wall.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run two miners into one duct with this?

The branches are 4-inch, which is PSU-scale, not miner-scale. For two full machines you want the 8″ to dual 6″ splitter — and even then, be aware that the machine with the stronger fans will backpressure the weaker one. A duct per machine is the layout that behaves predictably.

Which way round should it go?

Either. As a collector, the two 4-inch branches take the miner and PSU lines and the 6-inch trunk carries the combined flow out. As a splitter, one exhaust feeds two destinations. The geometry is more efficient as a collector, because a shallow-angle merge is what a wye is shaped for.

Will one branch steal all the flow?

Whichever branch has the lower resistance will take more of it. If you are splitting deliberately and want control over the balance, you need a damper in one branch — that is what a blast gate is for.
