Overview

Connects 8-inch HVAC flex duct to the 8-inch rigid fittings in this line. One end is a 203.2 mm OD plug that seats in any 8-inch duct-fitting socket in the catalog (bore 204.0 mm or larger); the other end is a male flex-over collar — clamp land 201.2 mm, retention bead crest 203.2 mm — that 8-inch flex duct slips straight over.

What it deliberately does not fit: shroud collars. Same exclusion as the 6-inch version — shroud collars are an interference fit against this plug by design, because every shroud already carries its own flex-over collar. This adapter is for the rigid duct fittings only.

What it fits

  • Any 8-inch duct-fitting socket in the D-Central line (bore 204.0 mm or larger): couplers, elbows, reducers, window ports.
  • 8-inch flex duct, which slips over the collar end and clamps on the land.
  • Not shroud collars — interference by design; shrouds carry their own flex collar.

Measure before you order. Fit dimensions in this line are derived from published fan and chassis geometry and are not yet validated against measured production hardware. Check your flange size and clearances against the footprint below. If something does not fit, tell us — that is how the next revision gets better.

How it is used

Push the plug end into the socket of the fitting you want to convert, then slip the flex duct core over the collar end and clamp it on the land below the bead. Typical spots: continuing in flex after a rigid elbow, feeding an 8-inch window port from a flex run, or transitioning at a reducer where an 8-inch trunk steps down.

Why it helps

  • Lets an 8-inch run mix rigid fittings and flex duct wherever each makes sense.
  • One purpose-shaped part instead of an improvised tape joint at every flex-to-rigid transition.
  • Same collar geometry as every other 8-inch flex interface in the line.
  • Honest status: flex retention is a geometric design (land 201.2 / crest 203.2 / bore 196.4 mm), not yet a tested fit against measured duct hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it not fit my shroud?

On purpose — shroud collars are an interference fit against this plug because every shroud already has its own flex-over collar. Slip flex over the shroud directly; use this adapter on the rigid fittings downstream.

Which end does the clamp go on?

The flex end: slip the duct core over the collar and seat a clamp on the 201.2 mm land, below the retention bead. The plug end simply seats in the fitting socket.

Has the fit been verified on real duct?

Not yet — the confirming measurement round against real flex core and crimped rigid ends is still open. Measure before you order, and tell us if something does not fit.
